Space Age is a fashion editorial project inspired by the 1960s and the Space Movement of that era. The wardrobe development was inspired by the designer André Courrèges, whose futuristic silhouettes and bold materials helped define the decade.
The concept aimed to reinterpret the essence of the Space Age with a contemporary twist, introducing vibrant pink and red tones to reimagine the cosmic aesthetic.
In collaboration with photographer Reni Calderon, and makeup artist Shannon Wu Shannon. I designed a look inspired by the 1960s, using pink tones to elevate the playful, modern direction.
For this project, I was in charge of wardrobe design, set development, and planning. This was a challenge since I handled most of the responsibilities, including coordinating production logistics. During pre-production, I sourced materials and props that evoked a futuristic mood while maintaining practicality for the shoot. I developed custom garments and accessories tailored specifically to the model, ensuring coherence between styling, set, and narrative. Time management and problem-solving were crucial, especially when refining the silhouettes and adapting the set to limited resources. Collaborating with the team allowed me to refine visual storytelling through fabric, color, and spatial design.
This project taught me the value of adaptability and creative problem-solving within limited resources. Moreover, my skills in organization and art direction helped my on designing the set while producing the wardrobe in the same period of time. Planning the set pushed me to improve my art direction skills. I learned how essential communication is, especially when working with a group of artistic individuals who have to get the main concept of the project. I would like to explore more experimental materials in the wardrobe and the set. Additionally, I would plan more time for fittings and testing accessories to ensure better functionality on set. Overall, this experience strengthened my skills in concept development, styling, and production coordination, and in collaborative work in fashion editorial.
